Camurus’ contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Camurus and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
Camurus’ sustainability work aims to contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Of the UN’s 17 SDGs, Camurus has identified seven where the company sees the greatest potential for a positive impact. The table below shows how Camurus is contributing to the respecive selected SDGs.

SDG 3. Good health and well-being: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
 Target:
3.5 Strengthen the prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including narcotic drug abuse and harmful use of alcohol
Camurus' contribution:  Opioid dependence is a serious, chronic, and relapsing disease that affects all aspects of a person’s life. It is also an escalating global health problem, contributing to significant negative consequences such as unemployment, criminal activity, imprisonment, transmission of infectious diseases, unintentional overdoses, and death. Opioid dependence is often associated with high social stigma and social exclusion. Camurus provides an opioid dependence treatment with demonstrated improved patient-reported outcomes, including higher treatment satisfaction, reduced treatment burden, and improved quality of life for patients with Buvidal compared to daily standard treatment.1-3
Camurus goal:  Reach 100,000 patients in treatment with Buvidal® during 2026

Target: 3.8 Achieve universal health coverage, including financial risk protection, access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all
Camurus' contribution:  Camurus' long acting medicines for treatment of severe and chronic diseases aim to create significant benefits for patients, caregivers, healthcare systems and society. By increasing the access to Camurus' medicines more people can be helped in attaining both better health and quality of life.
An important step to increase access to treatment is to raise disease awareness and reduce potential stigma for those affected. In an effort to address this, Camurus supports and collaborates with healthcare and patient organizations to increase knowledge about serious and rare diseases. This work is conducted within the framework of the EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations) guidelines and Camurus Healthcare Compliance program. The proper promotion and scientific exchange concerning Camurus products, as well as education about diseases and their management, adds important knowledge to the healthcare community, and is essential to ensure that as many patients as possible can have access to evidence based and qualitative care. Camurus' program, which includes our Healthcare Interactions Policy, procedures, guidelines, tools and training, is designed to ensure that all promotion and other information exchange is made in full compliance with regulations, laws, ethics and industry codes.
Camurus goal:
  • From 2025: Enhance engagement in disease awareness activities
  • By 2026: Take at least one new drug to regulatory approval

 Camurus' contribution:
Camurus is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace where diversity is valued and actively promoted. The company works to ensure equal opportunities in recruitment, career development, and leadership advancement, regardless of gender or background. By promoting gender balance and representation at all levels of the organization, including management and the board, Camurus supports more diverse perspectives in decision-making processes, which can enhance innovation, organizational performance, and long-term sustainability. For details on the current gender distribution, please refer to Camurus’ sustainability report, included in the company’s annual report.

Target:

 Camurus' contribution:
Camurus' employees are Camurus' greatest asset. Camurus works actively to provide a sound and developing working environment that protects both the human rights and labor rights of all employees. Camurus actively pursues DEI work (diversity, equity and inclusion), and considers occupational health and safety work of critical importance. A majority of Camurus' employees are covered by collecting bargaining agreements.
Given that global and complex supply chains often offer limited control and transparency, they can contain the risk of violations of human rights and labor rights, unsecure working environments, and discrimination. Camurus' vendors are required to comply with Camurus' Vendor Code of Conduct which challenges them to meet Camurus' sustainability standards, which include, amongst other things respect for human rights, labor rights, and the provision of decent working conditions. Camurus evaluates its vendors' compliance with the code and works actively together with its vendors to prevent and minimize sustainability risks within the supply chains.
Camurus' goal:
  • From 2025: Maintain a high degree of inclusion amongst Camurus’ employeesby reaching a score equal to or above 8 in the relevant categories in the annual regular employee survey

Camurus' goal 2026:Conduct annual projects focused on reducing stigma for patients
 SDG:

13.3 Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning
 Camurus' contribution:
Camurus is commited to protecting the environment and proactively preventing and mitigating environmental pollution, including greenhouse gas emissions. Camurus works strategically to reduce its carbon footprint and increase climate adaptation throughout the value chain. This work is reflected, among other initiatives, in Camurus’ renewable energy and GHG reduction program. Engagement of employees and vendors is key in this work. All employees receive training on the topic of sustainability which includes Camurus' environmental and sustainability policies and the company's carbon footprint reduction work. Camurus has set goals and developed an action plan to increase the share of renewable energy and achieve the transition to climate neutrality. All employees are delegated the responsibility to actively participate in Camurus' environmental and sustainability work. Camurus also collaborates with its vendors to reduce both carbon emissions, and other environmental footprints, and ultimately increase climate adaptation throughout the value chain.
Camurus' goal:
  • Reduce scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2035 (compared to 2023 levels)

Camurus' contribution:  Camurus' Business Ethics and Compliance Framework, which includes policies, procedures, controls and governance mechanisms, is designed to detect, prevent and address bribery and other forms of corruption. The framework is applied across the operations, with particular focus on measures that mitigate those risks in relation to the interactions with Camurus customers and other healthcare stakeholders, including interactions performed by Third Parties on Camurus' behalf. The framework is continously strengthened, through expanded policies, controls and training. These ensure oversight and monitoring of activities in the business, build ownership and awareness for ethics and compliance in the organization, and lower the resistance to raising difficult questions and reporting concerns.
Camurus' goal:
  • By 2026: Annual training of all Camurus’ employees and consultants in the company’s Code of Conduct in relevant topics, such as anti-corruption and data protection
