Markus Johnsson

Senior Vice President R&D

Markus Johnsson (born 1972) was appointed Senior VP R&D in 2022. He holds the overall responsibility of Camurus’ R&D activities and organization.  

He joined Camurus in 2003, but as VP Pharmaceutical & Analytical Development left the company in 2017 to take up a position within Project Management at PolyPeptide Laboratories – a global leader in peptide Contract Development & Manufacturing. He re-joined Camurus in 2021 as Senior Director for Camurus’ Project and Portfolio management. Prior to joining Camurus, he was a postdoctoral researcher at University of Groningen. Furthermore, he has more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and is named inventor on more than 400 patents and patent applications.

Markus holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry and M.Sc. in chemistry from Uppsala University.
